Ardbeg Supernova SN2019 is a Committee Release single malt Scotch whisky, and a heavily peated one.
The nose opens with pungent aniseed, menthol and eucalyptus over sweet treacle toffee, with peppermint, fennel and a faint camphor note. Water brings out more toffee and a burst of dry, earthy peat.
The palate is tingly and peppery, with earthy smoke, bonfires, soot, charred oak, birch tar and menthol. The finish is very long, with treacle toffee, aniseed, oak tannin, clove and a little bittersweet Seville orange.
