Ardbeg Traigh Bhan is a 19 year old Islay single malt, here the Batch 3 release of 2021, bottled at 46.2% abv without chill-filtering. It was matured in American oak and Oloroso sherry casks.
The name comes from Traigh Bhan, a beach on Islay known as the Singing Sands, where soft white sand whistles underfoot and sharp volcanic rocks lie beneath the clear water.
The nose has wood smoke, sea spray, pine resin, caramelised aniseed and a little citrus zest and cayenne. The palate is rich, with molasses, soot, brown sugar and caramelised nuts, and the long finish brings bitter almonds, clove, pepper and fading soot.
