Ardbeg – Uigeadail (70cl, 54.2%)

Ardbeg Uigeadail is a non-chill-filtered single malt bottled at 54.2% abv. It blends malt matured in bourbon casks with an older malt that spent its time in sherry casks. The name is Gaelic for the loch that supplies the water used at the distillery, which picks up more peat on its way through the bogs. The nose is smoky with dates and raisins, and honey comes forward with a little water. On the palate, caramel, honey, candied fruit and Christmas pudding give way to smoked salmon and grilled meat. The finish is very long and soft.
