Ardbeg Uigeadail is a cask-strength Islay single malt bottled at 54.2%. It is a vatting of whisky matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels and old Oloroso sherry casks, bringing the raisiny tones of the sherry together with Ardbeg's smoky spirit. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour.
The name comes from Loch Uigeadail, the distillery's peaty water source, and means 'dark, mysterious place' in Gaelic.
The nose is tarry and intense, with creosote, dark chocolate, blackcurrants, muscovado sugar, cherries, briny seaweed and smoky bacon. The palate is peppery and chewy, with peppered steak, black espresso, blackcurrants and star anise. The finish is long, with raisins, mocha and aromatic smoke.
