Ardbeg 'Vintage_Y2K' is a 23 year old Islay single malt, distilled in 2000 and bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is one of the limited releases from the distillery.
The whisky was matured in a combination of oloroso and bourbon casks.
The nose is herbal and sweet with a little smoke, lemon balm, linseed oil and candied walnuts; water brings out heather honey, creosote and tent canvas. The palate has a fizzy, sherbet-like texture, with early sweetness followed by aniseed, toffee, digestive biscuits, peppermint, menthol, tar and coffee grounds. The finish is sooty and tarry, ending on antiseptic lozenges, bitter orange and oak tannins.
