Ardbeg Wee Beastie is a five-year-old Islay single malt, bottled at 47.4% in a 70cl bottle. It was developed with bartenders in mind, particularly for smoky cocktails, though it is also made to be drunk neat.
The whisky was matured in Bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks. It is heavily peated, with black pepper, pine resin and strong smoke.
The nose brings vanilla, pear, black pepper, pine resin, coffee, fennel, green apple and aniseed over plenty of peat. The palate is rich, with pure chocolate, smoked bacon, aniseed and eucalyptus. The finish is long and briny, with cocoa, caramel and smoked meat.
