Ardbeg Wee Beastie is a five-year-old Islay single malt Scotch whisky from Ardbeg, bottled at 47.4% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is made from malted barley peated to around 50 to 55 PPM and matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks. It is non-chill filtered.
The short maturation is deliberate, keeping the peat of the new-make spirit to the fore.
The nose brings dark chocolate, tar and smoked meat, with black pepper, pine resin and apple blossom. The palate is rich, with creosote, dark chocolate, smoked bacon and cherrywood smoke. The finish is long and salty, with cocoa, fudge and lingering smoke.
