Ardbeg – Wee Beastie 5 Year Old (70cl, 47.4%)

Ardbeg Wee Beastie is a 5 year old Islay single malt, bottled at 47.4% in a 70cl bottle. It is described as the youngest bottling in the Ardbeg range. The whisky was matured in bourbon casks and Oloroso sherry casks. Ardbeg set out to make its rawest and smokiest expression, a peaty dram with a tingling bite. It is pale gold in the glass. The nose is smoky, with fresh herbs, pear, pine resin and aniseed. The palate is rich and structured, with chocolate, tar and black pepper, and the long finish carries fudge, buttery caramel and a savoury, meaty note.
