Wee Beastie is a five-year-old Islay single malt from Ardbeg, in a 70cl bottle. The name comes from a Scots phrase for an unruly little creature.
It has matured for only five years, which leaves the smoke and peat to come through clearly. Sherry casks have shaped it.
The whisky is golden. The nose brings pear, green apple, herbal notes, honey and black pepper, with hints of coffee and resin. The palate is rich and very intense, with chocolate shades, and it closes salty and enveloping.
