Ardnahoe – 5 Years Inaugural Release (70cl, 50%)

The Inaugural Release is the first peated single malt from Ardnahoe, the Islay distillery founded by the Laing family, which began production in 2018. It is 5 years old, peated to 40ppm, and bottled at 50% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The whisky matured in roughly 75% ex-bourbon and 25% ex-Oloroso sherry casks. It is bottled without artificial colour or chill-filtration. The nose brings shortbread, baked apples and Islay peat smoke. On the palate there are vanilla custard, ginger, lemon peel and baked apples, again with peat smoke. The finish is long and smoky.
