Ardnahoe Bholsa is a peated Islay single malt and the second core release from Ardnahoe distillery. It is bottled at 50% without chill-filtration and matured mainly in Oloroso sherry casks.
The name comes from the Bholsa caves on Islay's north coast.
The nose has red berries, roasted nuts, flambéed orange peel and peat smoke, with a light floral note behind. The palate offers dried dates and raisins, dark berries and burnt caramel, with cinnamon, black pepper and peat smoke underneath. The finish is long, warm and spicy, with sweetness, lingering smoke and a touch of ginger.
