Ardnahoe – Càraid Ìleach 100% Oloroso Quarter Casks German Exclusive Edition No. 1 (70cl, 50%)

Càraid Ìleach is an Islay single malt from Ardnahoe, fully matured in Oloroso quarter casks and bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle. It is the distillery's first Oloroso quarter cask bottling and was made exclusively for Germany, limited to 2,510 bottles worldwide. It is natural in colour and not chill-filtered. The name is Scottish Gaelic for the Islay pair. It belongs to a pair of sherry quarter cask releases, and this is Edition No. 1; Edition No. 2 is matured wholly in PX quarter casks. The nose offers rich cacao, orange peel, dark cherries and campfire ash. On the palate come roasted walnuts, spiced fruitcake and nutmeg, leading to a finish with a hint of leather and Islay peat.
