Ardnahoe – Inaugural Release (50%)

Ardnahoe Inaugural Release is the first peated single malt from the Islay distillery founded by the Laing family, which began production in 2018. It was made with barley from the Port Ellen Maltings at 40ppm phenol level. The whisky spent five years in ex-bourbon casks (about 75%) and Oloroso sherry casks (about 25%). It is bottled at 50%, non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. The nose has shortbread, baked apples and inviting Islay peat smoke. The palate brings custard, ginger, lemon peel and baked apples, again with peat smoke. The finish is long and smoky.
