Ardnamurchan AD/Sauternes Cask Release is a peated Highland single malt from the Lochaber distillery, bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle. It follows the unpeated Sauternes release of 2024, and this 2025 edition is made from fully peated spirit.
The whisky spent three years in ex-bourbon casks, then a further three and a half years in Sauternes barriques. It is non-chill filtered and of natural colour, and the run came to 8,460 bottles.
The nose offers lime leaf, lemon balm, shortbread and pineapple upside-down cake. On the palate there are nutmeg, dried ginger, orange blossom and smoked manuka honey with farmy smoke, and the finish is spicy, punchy and bright.
