Arran Machrie Moor Cask Strength is a single malt from the Lochranza distillery, bottled at 56.2% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It was first released in 2014 and is made from barley peated to 20 ppm, giving a medium smoky spirit. The name comes from a windswept peat bog on the west coast of Arran, where Bronze Age standing stones include one with a carved hole. Legend has it that the warrior Fingal tied his hound Bran to it. Maturation was in bourbon casks. The nose is smoky and woody, with peat and fresh pineapple, then pear and Arran's citrus note. Water brings out fruit such as raspberry jam over a steady base of peat and smoke. The finish is long, with vanilla and maritime tones.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
