Arran – Quarter Cask The Bothy (70cl, 56.2%)

This is an Arran single malt bottled at a cask strength of 56.2% in a 70cl bottle, and it comes in a tin. It is non-chill-filtered and free of added colour. The whisky matured for seven years in first-fill ex-bourbon casks, then spent two more years in 125-litre quarter casks of American oak. The smaller casks bring much more contact between spirit and wood. The name looks back to the small casks once common in the island's whisky trade. The nose is lemon zest, candyfloss and a hint of cocoa. The palate shows pineapple, green apple and vanilla with a touch of chilli. The finish is long and fruity, sweet with spicy oak.
