This is Arran Quarter Cask, known as The Bothy, a single island malt bottled at a cask strength of 56.2% in a 70cl bottle. It is natural colour and non-chill-filtered.
After distilling, the whisky spent 7 years in first-fill ex-bourbon casks, then a further 2 years in 125 litre quarter casks. The smaller casks bring the spirit into closer contact with the oak, so the maturation is more intense.
It is described as rich and oily, with citrus, cinnamon, sweet vanilla, honey, pineapple and coconut, and plenty of freshly ground pepper.
