Arran – Quarter Cask 'The Bothy'

This is a cask strength single malt from the Isle of Arran, bottled without chill-filtration or added colour. The whisky spent seven years in first-fill ex-Bourbon barrels, then moved into 125 litre Quarter casks of American oak for a further two years. The smaller casks bring the whisky into closer contact with the wood, which makes for a faster, more intense maturation. The size echoes the small casks once common in the island's whisky trade, as they were easier to handle and move around. It is described as full-bodied and fruity, with rich vanilla sweetness and bold peppery spice.
