Arran – Sauternes Cask Finish (50%)

This is an Arran single malt finished in Sauternes casks, bottled at 50%. The Sauternes casks came from one of the best producers in the region. The whisky first matured in American oak for around eight years, then was filled into the Sauternes casks for a second period of maturation. That stage is closely watched, to keep a balance between the sweetness of the casks and the natural Arran character. The result is a sweetish malt that stays true to its roots, and it is well suited to sweet desserts and strong cheeses.
