AWA Whisky Gewurztraminer Single Malt d'Alsace (70cl, 43%)

AWA Gewurztraminer is a French single malt from Alsace, bottled at 43% ABV. AWA, short for Authentique Whisky d'Alsace, was founded by Denis Hanns, and this expression was made in collaboration with the Hepp distillery in Uberach. The whisky spends time in a cask that previously held Gewurztraminer, the Alsace grape variety, which gives it a floral and fruity character rather than the usual ex-bourbon or sherry profile. The malt keeps its dry structure. White flowers lead on the nose, followed by exotic fruit and light spice. The palate is round, with lychee, yellow fruit and soft spice, and the finish stays floral and fruity with a hint of spice.
