Baardseth VSOP Vieille Reserve Cognac (75cl)

This is a VSOP Cognac blended from the two best crus of the region, Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne. It is bottled in a 75cl bottle. The distillates are aged separately in French oak, with up to 25% new casks. The wood is dried for 36 months, mostly small-grain oak, and given a light to medium toast so the delicate Fine Champagne character is kept. The young spirit matures for four to six years. The nose opens with crystallised fruit, dried apricot, orange peel and prunes, with light toasted oak behind. The palate is generous and dry, with vanilla, pastry, a persistent light smokiness and a touch of rancio. The finish is very long.
