Balblair – 21 Year Old (70cl, 46%)

Balblair 21 Year Old is a Highland single malt from the Balblair Distillery at Edderton, and the oldest expression in the distillery's core range. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. The whisky spent 15 years in American oak, in ex-bourbon and double-fired barrels, followed by six years in handpicked Spanish oak butts seasoned with Oloroso wine. The nose is tropical, with grilled mango, coconut, pineapple, apricot, cinnamon and nutmeg. On the palate mango and pineapple are laced with cloves and ginger, through toffee and banoffee pie. The finish is long, with dark chocolate and tropical fruit.
