Balblair – 25 Year Old (75cl, 46%)

Balblair 25 Year Old is a Highland single malt from the distillery at Edderton, near Tain, bottled at 46% in a 750ml bottle. Balblair was founded in 1790. The whisky spent 25 years in oak, first in American oak ex-bourbon casks and later in first-fill Spanish oak butts that had held Oloroso sherry. It is non-chill filtered and of natural colour. It is typically described with a nose of overripe apricots, dark liquorice, polished oak and a touch of saddle wax. The palate is full-bodied and oily, with citrus, chocolate praline and tobacco leaf, and the finish is warming, with smooth chocolate and blood oranges.
