Balcones – Texas Rye Bottled in Bond (75cl, 50%)

Balcones Texas Rye Bottled in Bond is a Texas rye whiskey bottled at 50% ABV (100 proof), in a 750ml bottle. Balcones made it in an intense Texas climate, and reports that its rye showed density and clarity, with darker chocolates, more acidic dried fruits and a refreshing solvency, once it reached four years old. The nose balances warm sun tea, candied fennel and spruce tips with cooler notes of melted mint chip ice cream and raspberry glaze. The palate opens with graham cracker crust, espresso-bean dark chocolate and cardamom, then carrot frond, cedar chest and apricot preserves. Nutella and blackberry jam on rye toast linger at the end.
