Ballantine's 17 Year Old is a blended Scotch whisky in a 70cl bottle, with a nose that starts with lemon and moves through pear drops, florals, creamy caramel, stem ginger and honey. Beneath these sit volcanic rock and smoky, slightly tarry peat.
On the palate there is a little alcohol burn, then mineral, smoky peat, citrus, honey, grapefruit and lime peel, pear drop sweets and stem ginger, with some tinned fruit and creaminess. The finish brings slight tarry peat, citrus, stem ginger and volcanic rock.
