Ultramarine is a limited edition blended Scotch whisky from Compass Box, bottled at 51% in a 70cl bottle. It is the first release in the Extinct Blends Quartet, inspired by the old sherry and pipe tobacco notes of an iconic luxury blend that first appeared in the late 1980s.
The blend rests on malts from Caol Ila and Glendullan and grain whiskies from Cameronbridge and Girvan, with already-married parcels alongside. It was matured in a mix of bourbon barrels, sherry butts, hogsheads and a custom French oak cask. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour, in an outturn of 5,430 bottles.
It is described as having toffee, raisins and complex peat, with a full flavour and a striking texture.
