Ballechin is the peated style from Edradour, and this is a 20-year-old Highland single malt distilled in 2004 and bottled in 2024. It matured entirely in bourbon casks and is bottled at cask strength, 52.8% ABV, in a 70cl bottle, without chill filtration or added colouring.
The nose brings campfire smoke, vanilla, caramel and sweet malt. On the palate it is full-bodied and complex, with roasted nuts, creamy oak, spice and a gentle sweetness that balances the peat. The finish is long and warming, led by smoke, wood and a restrained spiciness.
