Ballindalloch The Castle is a single malt released to mark the launch of John Sutherland's novel The Castle, which is set at Ballindalloch Castle. About 2400 bottles were filled, at 50% in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill filtered and of natural colour.
The whisky combines ex-bourbon and ex-peated casks, which give a small hint of peat and smoke.
It is burnished gold in colour. The nose offers sweet honey, baked apple and toasted malt. On the palate are caramel, vanilla cream and gentle Highland smoke, and the finish is softly spiced, warm and lightly smoky.
