Ballotin Caramel Turtle is a flavoured bourbon whiskey bottled at 30% in a 75cl bottle. Ballotin was founded in Louisville, Kentucky, in 2015 to make chocolate-inspired whiskeys.
The base is a three-year-old barrel-aged whiskey from second fill barrels, which gives a lighter oak and char influence. Natural caramel, pecan and chocolate flavours are then added.
The nose brings pecan praline, buttery caramel and dark chocolate, with a little nutmeg as it opens. Toasted pecan and salted caramel lead the palate, and the finish is medium in length, with vanilla, caramel and hints of gingerbread.
