This is a 10 year old Balvenie from the Founder's Reserve range, a Speyside single malt in the Cognac Bottle presentation, bottled by William Grant & Sons in the 1980s. It is 40% ABV, in a 75cl bottle, and was matured in bourbon and sherry casks.
The nose offers orchard fruits, apple, pear and apricot, with delicate vanilla spice, heather honey and soft oak from the sherry casks. The palate is honeyed and juicy, with nutty almond, muted baking spices and a smooth, slightly oily texture. The finish is medium in length, with dried fruit and subtle spiced oak.
