Balvenie 12 Year Home Malted Barley is a limited-edition Speyside single malt, bottled at 47.5% in a 70cl bottle. It belongs to The Balvenie's 1931 Collection and is made entirely from barley malted by hand on the distillery's own floor maltings. The whisky is double-distilled in copper pot stills, matured for twelve years in American oak, then finished in European oak ex-sherry butts from Jerez.
The Balvenie was founded in 1892 by William Grant in Dufftown and remains family-owned.
The nose offers warm biscuit, green malt and orange peel. Toasted oats, raisins, figs, honey and baking spice follow on the palate, and the finish is long and warming.
