Balvenie 12 Year Old Doublewood is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky, in a 70cl bottle, matured in two types of cask. It begins in traditional American oak barrels and hogsheads that previously held bourbon, then spends a further nine months in Spanish oak ex-Oloroso sherry casks.
The nose has sweet fruit with a subtle Oloroso character, then soft honey and vanilla. The palate is smooth and velvety, with gentle nutty sweetness and warm cinnamon spice. The finish is lingering, carrying richness and warmth.
