Balvenie – 12 Year Old The Sweet Toast of American Oak (70cl, 43%)

Balvenie The Sweet Toast of American Oak is a 12 year old single malt bottled at 43% in a 700ml bottle. It is the first release in The Balvenie Stories range, which draws on people and events in the distillery's history. The idea came from apprentice malt master Kelsey McKechnie, who proposed bringing virgin oak barrels from Kentucky and toasting them deeply in the distillery's cooperage. Balvenie's ex-bourbon aged whisky was then finished in them. The nose is malty with sweet fudge, citrus, oak vanilla, ginger and cinnamon. The palate offers candied orange and lemon peel, vanilla toffee, butterscotch, blossom honey and brown sugar. The finish is rich and malty with oak vanilla and light spice.
