This Balvenie is a 14 year old single malt from the Curious Casks bottlings, taken from cask 1509 and bottled at 47.8% in a 70cl bottle. It belongs to the Balvenie Stories range, which draws on the history of the distillery.
The whisky comes from the first batch distilled with unpeated barley after the annual peat week, when smoky whisky is made, and it has picked up a subtle smoky flavour as a result. It then spent 14 years in first-fill bourbon casks.
