A 14 year old Speyside single malt from The Balvenie, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. The whisky was first aged in traditional oak casks, then finished in casks that had held Caribbean rum.
Malt master David C. Stewart blended his own mix of West Indian rums, filled it into casks, and later emptied the rum out and replaced it with Balvenie whisky. The finish adds extra sweetness and warmth.
The nose brings tropical fruit, passion fruit in particular, with creamy toffee. On the palate, sweet vanilla sits with apple, mango and a hint of orange, and the finish lingers on vanilla.
