Balvenie 16 Year Old French Oak Pineau Cask Finish is a single malt in a 70cl bottle. It was first matured for 16 years in American oak casks, then finished in French Pineau casks.
Pineau is a fortified wine aperitif from western France, in the Cognac region, with a fairly sweet character balanced by some acidity and stewed fruit such as spiced apples and plum compote.
The nose is light and floral, with lotus and geranium, fresh meadow grass and peeled apple skin. The palate is zesty, with lemon rind and grapefruit, glazed fruits and root ginger. The finish is short and refreshing.
