Balvenie is one of the few Scottish distilleries with its own cooperage. Head cooper Ian McDonald has worked with casks for 50 years, and this release draws on his knowledge and that of colleagues who build sherry casks in Spain.
The whisky is matured in European oloroso sherry casks and is described as having layers of dried fruit, nuts and spice.
