Balvenie – 21 Year Old The Second Red Rose

The Second Red Rose is a 21-year-old Balvenie single malt, released in 2021 as part of The Balvenie Stories Series. It looks back to the original Balvenie Rose, a Port-finished expression known for its blush hue. The name refers to the single red rose that Margaret Douglas once paid as rent to King James II for living in Balvenie Castle. For this version, Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE chose Australian Shiraz casks for the finishing period, adding a fruit-laden character to the long-matured whisky and a subtle rosy glow. It won Gold at the International Wine & Spirits Competition in 2022.
