This is a 1963 Balvenie, 50 years old, matured in a European oak hogshead, cask 4570. It is bottled at 45.9% in a 70cl bottle, as a limited edition of 128 bottles released in 2014.
It comes in a handcrafted wooden case designed by Scottish furniture maker Sam Chinnery. The case is built from 49 layers of wood using seven Scottish timbers, including Banffshire elm from the distillery site, and a brass ring that closes it forms the 50th layer.
