Balvenie – A Collection of Curious Casks 18 Year Old French Pineau Cask Finish (75cl)

This is an 18 year old Balvenie single malt from the Speyside distillery's Curious Casks collection, released as a limited edition. The whisky spent 10 years in a combination of ex-bourbon and European oak casks, then a further 8 years in casks that previously held wine from the French Charentes vineyards. It comes in a 75cl bottle. The nose combines velvety sweetness, rich toffee and smouldering oak with crisp citrus and honey. On the palate, candied orange peel sits alongside roasted malt, earthy wood and deep vanilla oak. The finish is long and lingering.
