Balvenie – A Collection of Curious Casks Limited Edition 14 Year Old American Bourbon Barrel (75cl)

This is a 14 year old Balvenie single malt from the Collection of Curious Casks, in a 75cl bottle. It was matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels. The casks were filled with spirit distilled directly after Balvenie's peat week, the one week of the year the distillery makes a smoky whisky. Some of that distillate picked up a touch of smoke from the stills, which leaves a subtle hint of phenols after 14 years. On the palate there is orange cream and toasted vanilla bean, with a thick, mouth-coating texture. Baking spices and roasted nuts follow, with a touch of campfire smoke on the finish.
