Balvenie Double Wood 12 Year Old is a single malt bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. Balvenie is the neighbour of Glenfiddich, which owns it, and its team experiment with different woods and strains of barley.
In the glass it is a rich amber. The nose is sweet and lifted, with Jersey caramels, jaffa, orange zest and cinnamon buns. The palate is mellow and sweet, with honey-roasted cashew, orange cake and marzipan. The finish is remarkably long for a whisky at 40%.
