Balvenie – Tun 1509 Batch 5 (70cl, 52.6%)

Balvenie Tun 1509 Batch 5 is a Speyside single malt, bottled at 52.6% in a 70cl bottle. David Stewart chose 29 different casks from the distillery's older reserves for it. The whiskies were married for three months in Tun 1509 in Warehouse 24. Stewart describes the batch as a rich, complex Balvenie with a deep sherry character. Tasting notes describe a rich, malty nose with honeycomb and toffee. The palate opens rich and generously spiced, followed by deep sherry and oak. The finish carries dried fruit with a pleasant sweetness.
