Balvenie – Tun 1509 Batch 7 (70cl, 52.4%)

Balvenie Tun 1509 Batch 7 is a Speyside single malt in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 52.4%. David Stewart chose 21 casks from the distillery's older stocks: ten sherry butts, seven sherry hogsheads and four American oak casks. The whiskies were then married for three months in Tun 1509 in Warehouse 24. The nose is rich and deep, with candied fruit, dates, ground ginger and soft brown sugar. On the palate come candied orange, plenty of vanilla, golden syrup, honeycomb, toasted hazelnuts and a closing note of ginger and nutmeg. The finish is sweet and malty, with oak and vanilla.
