Balvenie – Tun 1509 Batch No. 1 2014 Release (70cl, 47.1%)

This is the first batch from Balvenie's Tun 1509, an oak vatting vessel holding 8,000 litres and housed in Warehouse 24. It followed the Tun 1401 series, whose success called for a larger vat. One batch is bottled each year, and this one was released in 2014. Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE selected 42 casks for the batch: 35 traditional American oak barrels and seven European oak sherry butts. They were married in the tun and bottled at 47.1% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The release totals 11,000 bottles.
