Balvenie – Tun 1509 Batch No. 2 Single Malt Scotch Whisky 2015 Release (70cl, 50.3%)

This is the second batch of Balvenie Tun 1509, a Speyside single malt released in 2015 at 50.3% ABV in a 70cl bottle. Tun 1509 is a traditional oak vatting vessel with a capacity of 8000 litres, housed in Warehouse 24. Malt Master David C. Stewart hand-selected a range of vintage casks and married them in the tun for three months. This batch combines 23 American oak barrels and nine European oak sherry butts. Tun 1509 followed the Tun 1401 series, whose success called for a larger vat. Batch 1 was launched in 2014, with one batch bottled each year, and this second batch was a release of 8,500 bottles.
