Banff – 1976/2023 Gordon & MacPhail Private Collection (70cl, 50.4%)

This is a Banff distilled in 1976 and bottled in 2023 for the Gordon & MacPhail Private Collection, from single cask 2887. Banff is a Highland distillery that closed in 1983. The whisky was bottled at 50.4% ABV after around 46 years in the cask. Tasting notes describe spiced gingerbread, cloves and cinnamon on the nose, with brown cane sugar, ripe orange and deep oak. The palate combines dark fruit and sweet spice with orange, caramel and dry, mature oak. The finish is long, spicy and dry, with cinnamon, clove, dark fruit and old wood.
