Banff – 46 Year Old 1976/2023 Gordon & MacPhail Private Collection Refill Sherry Butt #2887

This is a 46 year old single cask Banff, a Highland distillery that has since closed. Gordon & MacPhail distilled it in 1976 and bottled it in 2023 from cask 2887. The whisky matured in a refill sherry butt. The nose is warm gingerbread, cloves and cinnamon with toffee and dark cane sugar, plus plum, apple and juicy orange. On the palate come berries and cinnamon, ginger and black pepper, roasted hazelnuts, marzipan and a hint of ripe oak. The finish pairs candied orange with the spice of walnuts.
