Banhez Mezcal Joven Espadín (75cl, 42%)

Banhez Joven Espadín is a mezcal from the highlands of Ejutla in Oaxaca, made by a family of traditional mezcaleros. It blends 90% Espadín (Agave Angustifolia) with 10% Barril (Agave Karwinskii) and is distilled in copper stills. The Espadín gives a sweet, herbaceous backbone, while the Barril adds minerality and structure. The style is lighter and not overly smoky. Soft floral aromas lead to pineapple and banana, wrapped in gentle smoke. The finish is bright and fruity. It suits sipping neat, or citrus-led cocktails such as a mezcal margarita.
