A 1960s kummel, a clear spirit predominantly flavoured by caraway, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle.
Kummel was first believed to have been produced by Lucas Bols in 1675 in the Netherlands and was later exported to Germany and Russia. Caraway gives it a calmative effect, and it has a place in classic cocktails.
The words kummel, kümmel and kimmel are generic terms in German, Dutch and Yiddish respectively, meaning both caraway and cumin.
